The homeowner in Newark, DE was in need of a new driveway. The White Clay Watershed Association manages the Catch the Rain Rebate program which pays a fixed unit price for various residential stormwater practices including permeable pavements. The homeowner decided to leverage the Catch the Rain Program to install a new permeable paver driveway, along with a number of other practices.
The location of the project made the construction challenging. With many underground utilities located under the driveway, the contractor looked for a solution to minimize excavation while providing necessary water storage required.
Garden Square Landscaping, Inc. installed PaverGuide under the permeable paver driveway. PaverGuide decreased the overall time of the project by saving labor and reducing excavation. This project was constructed during an unusually wet season, potentially causing delays. However, PaverGuide provided the necessary stability to continue working through the rain without delay. Ross Causey, owner of Garden Square Landscaping, said “We found by using Paver Guide, excavation, stone, geotextile costs will be minimal. The 90% void space of Paver Guide is far superior to that of #2 or #57 stone. “
Garden Square Landscaping, PaverGuide and the homeowner were proudly a part of the Newark Garden Tour 2019.
